Maundy Thursday This is the night that Christ the Son of Man gathered his disciples in the upper room. This is the night that Christ our Lord and Master took a towel and washed the disciples' feet, calling us to love one another as he loved us. This is the night that Christ our God gave us this holy feast, that we who eat this bread and drink this cup may here proclaim his perfect sacrifice. This is the night that Christ the Lamb of God gave himself into the hands of those who would slay him. The service will begin at 7 and then a prayer vigil will follow at 8. This is a very moving service. Normally, at this service, people may have their foot washed and the altar will stripped. However, this Maundy Service, you may do so at home. From John 13:3-5 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God, got up from supper, and laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself. Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.
