the 6:33 challenge

Starting Ash Wednesday and ending at Easter, the 6:33 challenge during Lent at CTR is our opportunity to participate in the inward transformation of our soul as we once again experience the power of the Cross in this season. Therefore, over the 40 days of Lent, you are invited to stop, either at 6:33 a.m., or 6:33 p.m., or both, and join with us in the following spiritual exercise:

Recite with Intention

Matthew 6:33: “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Read with Devotion

I John 3:2-3: “Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.”

Reflect with Prayer

On the following ideas:

  • Is there anything Jesus wants to transform in my life for his glory? If so, what is it? Specifically name and identify it.
  • Ask Jesus to reveal to you the specific details of what He wants to do, how He wants to do it, when He’s asking you to do it, and even why He’s asking you to do it. Be specific.
  • Is there any spiritual discipline Jesus might be asking you to participate in to facilitate this transformation? Regular Sunday worship, Bible study, Confession, Fasting, Journaling, or something else. If you need help here, see one of our clergy.
  • Is there any ministry or mission engagement Jesus is asking you to serve in during this time to facilitate your transformational growth?
