Advent 2017

Waiting and preparation are key themes of Advent. We wait with expectation, but it is not a passive waiting. Instead it is a time in which we invite Christ to speak to our hearts, to quiet the frenetic pace of what has become for many a secular holiday and to meditate on His grace. To view Advent simply as part of the liturgical calendar is to miss the point. This season—the beginning of a new church year—calls us to reflect upon the first Advent when Christ’s birth ushered in the Kingdom of God and fulfilled God’s promise of redemption.
